CAAM — Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how BlueLine Software, LLC ("BlueLine Software," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the CAAM iPhone app ("CAAM" or the "App"), part of the Computer Aided Assignment Manager suite.

Who the App Is For

CAAM is a work tool for authorized personnel of law enforcement agencies and their volunteer patrol programs that subscribe to CAAM (each, an "Agency"). You can use the App only with a device key issued by your Agency. The patrol records you create belong to your Agency; BlueLine Software processes them on the Agency's behalf to provide the service.

Information We Collect

Shift information. When you start or end a shift, the App records the shift type, dates and times, the names of the driver and any passenger (chosen from your Agency's roster), the vehicle number, and starting and ending mileage.

Patrol activity. As you work, the App records the activity you log. This includes property (house) watch checks and their results, school patrols, incidents and calls (activity type, location, notes, license plates, case numbers, and related details), neighborhood watch and parking activity. Property watch lists supplied by your Agency may contain addresses and the related instructions.

Photos. When you attach a photo to an incident, the App uses your camera and uploads the photo to your Agency's incident record. If you allow location access, the App tags that photo with the location and compass direction at the moment you take it. It uses location only while the in-app camera is open, never in the background. If you allow it, the App can also save the photos you take to your device's photo library. Photos waiting to upload stay on your device until the upload succeeds, for no more than 14 days. Cached copies of attachments are removed from the device after 7 days.

Device information. The App stores a device name that you choose, and it attaches that name to your shifts and activity so your Agency can tell devices apart. It also uses Apple's App Attest service to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the App, and an Apple push notification token so it can keep your data in sync across your Agency's devices. These notifications are silent sync signals and do not display messages.

Email addresses. When a shift ends, the App sends the shift summary and property watch report to our servers, together with the recipients' email addresses from your Agency's roster. The recipients are the patrol members on the shift and your Agency's supervisors. Our servers deliver the email; the App never sends email itself.

Activity and diagnostic logs. The App sends an audit log of the actions taken in it, such as starting or ending a shift and logging, editing or deleting an incident, together with errors, the device name and timestamps. We and your Agency use this log to troubleshoot, keep the service running and maintain an audit trail.

The App contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking software, and no third-party SDKs.

How We Use Information

  • To provide the App's features: tracking shifts, recording patrol activity, attaching photos, syncing across your Agency's devices, and producing the end-of-shift summaries and reports that are emailed to you and your Agency's supervisors.
  • To confirm that each device is authorized and to protect the service against misuse.
  • To troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the App.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Service Providers

We share information with providers that process it for us to run the App. These are cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services and Vercel), records and reporting tools used by your Agency (Smartsheet and Google), a data cache used for security checks (Upstash), and Apple (App Attest and push notifications). These providers may process and store data in the United States.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information with your Agency, which owns the records; with the service providers listed above; when the law requires it; to protect the rights or safety of BlueLine Software, an Agency, or others; or as part of a business transfer.

Data Retention

Your Agency's policies and records-retention obligations determine how long patrol records are kept. We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service to your Agency, or as the law requires.

Your Choices and Rights

  • You can deny or revoke camera, location, and photo library access at any time in your device's Settings. The App still works, and photos are simply attached without a location.
  • Your Agency controls patrol records. To access, correct, or delete a record, contact your Agency first. You can also reach us using the details below, and we will work with your Agency on your request.

Children's Privacy

CAAM is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

Data travels only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your device key is kept in the iOS Keychain. Every request is checked with Apple App Attest. Photos are stored in encrypted cloud storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
